It was a sunny Saturday afternoon, and I was ready for some fall fun! Despite the 80+ temps, it was time to get a dose of pumpkins and scarecrows. My tween, my toddler and I decided to check out Phillips Farms, and I couldn’t have been happier with our visit! We spent over 2 hours playing, and we didn’t even do the corn maze! That maze, by the way, looked like a lot of fun – not too hard, not too easy. I think we’ll be going back to check it out.

Read on for details about visiting this great local attraction, or head straight to the end for the giveaway!

The lay of the land

One of the things I love about Phillips Farms was how wide open it is. Since it was only the three of us, my kiddos and I stuck together, but if you’re going with a bigger group and everyone spreads out a bit, no one is really out of sight. And there is so much to do for kids of all ages, and even stuff adults will enjoy!

One of the unique features of this fall attraction is a wagon ride with an educational narrative about the history of the farm and the area. (I appreciated the fact that the wagon was not loaded with hay, which usually irritates my allergies.) But there were so many little gems — the folks at Phillips have really thought of everything! Giant cornhole, a corn bin, great slides…there is even a mud pie play area! The staff, by the way, was super-friendly. Everyone greeted us with a genuine smile and conversation.

You’ll be staying a while, so you’ll be glad to know there are picnic tables and concessions (cash only), and although the only restroom facilities are portable toilets, there is a handy baby-changing station set up nearby.

Tips!

Don’t miss the see-saw made from old farm equipment, and old-fashioned-water-pump-turned-duck race to the left of the pumpkin patch.
Note that the pick-your-own pumpkin patch was a little hard to navigate, especially with a toddler, but pre-picked pumpkins will be available starting October 1st. Bring your quarters for feed for goats and fish.

I’ve only visited once, but it’s my favorite of all the fall farms in the area now. It was just laid-back FUN!
      Good luck!
