Description: This course will take a journey through foundational life science concepts and cover chemistry and characteristics of life, energy, cell properties and function, genetic principals, evolution and creation, classification and taxonomy and human anatomy and physiology and more. Students will be challenged to integrate scientific facts and apply advance critical thinking skills for topics presented while doing so through a biblical lens. The class will be taught from a Christian worldview. Students will engage in a combination of classroom lecture and review, group discussion, lab experiments and activities, short quizzes and at home reading and assignments. Students should plan approximately 1-2 hours per week to complete reading and assignments outside of class. After successful completion, students will have a solid foundation for high school level biology coursework.

About Your Instructor

Tashara Milligan

Tashara Milligan is an educator with over 20 years of experience. She has a background in health care quality and holds bachelors and masters degrees from East Carolina University. Her path has provided her the opportunity to teach at every level, including college. 

Tashara has enjoyed teaching other students, as well as her own. She is a proud mother of three daughters, ages 17, 11 and 3. She and her husband have homeschooled since 2014 and have enjoyed the one unique opportunity to educate their family together. 

Tashara has taught elementary and middle school science in several homeschool class programs and co-ops. Her favorite subject has always been science but since she started homeschooling, history has become close runner up. She loves learning along with her students and believes no matter how much you know, there is always something new to discover.
